Problem

For centuries, all men have had in the form of reversible contraception has been the condom. As nice as the condom is, it does have some drawbacks:

• It interrupts intercourse.
• It reduces sensation for both men and women.
• It has a real-world pregnancy rate of 18% over one year among couples that use condoms as their primary method.

Consequences

Lack of male contraceptive options affects men, women, and children:

• Men risk simply losing control over their fertility by having a child they do not want.
• Men risk child support costs over 18 years.
• Both parents risk educational, career, and financial loss.
• Both parents risk entering into a relationship or marriage that is not right for them.
• Women may have to use methods that are personally less desirable in order to lessen their pregnancy risk.?
• Children risk being brought up in a home where they are less likely to be cared for.

Plan of Action

We’re pushing this initiative on three main fronts:

Mobilization: You’re excited about male contraception. We get that. We are too. Check out the action section to make sure your demands for new male contraceptives are heard.

Funding: We work with numerous scientists around the globe that are ready to go. They just need research funding. Unfortunately, grants for male contraception are remarkably scarce. And so we seek to harness funds through private donors, foundations, government funding, and crowdfunding.
